Shingle Roof and Ventilation System Installation Project: A Sample North Hills Project
Location of the Fencing Project: North Hills, Los Angeles, CA
North Hills is a neighborhood in Los Angeles, California’s San Fernando Valley region. It was formerly a part of Mission Acres, a farming community. After World War II, the newly built suburban neighborhood was given the new name Sepulveda in honor of the well-known Californian Sepulveda family. It was renamed North Hills in 1991.
North Hills has a population of about 70,000 and is a diversified area. The neighborhood has various businesses, schools, parks, and several residential buildings.
A homeowner in North Hills contacted Globusroofing recently to have a new roof and ventilation system installed.
Reasons for the Project
The homeowner wanted to build a new roof and ventilation system for several reasons. First, the home’s interior was being flooded by leaks from the old roof and the old ventilation system wasn’t working so well. This was causing mold growth in the building. He also wanted to improve the energy efficiency of their home.
Customer’s Wish and Vision
The homeowner wanted a new and aesthetically pleasing roof that would last long. He also wanted a new ventilation system that would allow for more adequate airflow and minimize moisture buildup in the building.
Stages of the Roofing Project
The roofing project was completed in three different stages:
1. Removal of the old roof: The old roof was removed, and all old parts and debris was properly disposed of.
2. New Shingle roof installation: The new roof was set up using shingle roofing. These shingles are flat, rectangular pieces of asphalt. They were applied from the base of the roof upwards and overlapped for full coverage of the top of the building.
3. Ventilation system installation: The ventilation system was set up in the attic of the client’s home. It is made up of several fans and vents that were intended to circulate fresh air throughout the house.
Materials and Technologies Used
Asphalt shingles were the homeowner’s chosen type of roofing for his new roof. He made the decision after we offered him the best roofing options that would best serve his needs. This is mainly because shingle roofing is a common option for roofs and for the fact that it is strong, economical, energy-efficient, and simple to maintain.
Flashing: Flashing is employed to seal the seams between various roofing materials. It helps in preventing dampness in the roofing system and water leaks.
Vents: Vents have been installed to let air enter and exit the building through the attic quickly. This helps stop mold growth and moisture buildup.
Size of the Roof
The size of the roof was about 3,000 square feet.
The Client’s Gains from the Roofing Project.
The client was delighted with the project’s outcomes. He verified that the ventilation system brought fresh air into their home. What’s more? Because the new roof was more energy efficient than the old one, he said he had started saving money on energy bills in the last few months.
